Curtains & Blinds   Close the curtains or blinds at night
Even if you are not using the room, make sure curtains and blinds are not hanging over radiators.
Use thick lined curtains where ever possible
This helps to reduce heat loss through windows.

Outside Doors   Don't leave doors open unnecessarily
All the while a door is open heat can escape.
  Reduce draughts
From keyholes and door edges. Fit draught proof flaps to the letter box and keyholes which are often a major source of draughts.

Radiators   Keep furniture away from radiators
  To improve air circulation.
Don't leave towels hanging over radiators
  They just block air circulation.
Make sure radiators don't need bleeding
A radiator which is cold at the top needs the trapped air bleeding out of it to improve efficiency, this also helps the efficiency of the whole heating system.
  Improve air circulation
Fit a narrow shelf about 2 inches above radiators to force heat into the room rather than up the wall.
Reduce heat loss through outside walls
Fit Insulated Reflective Foil Behind Radiators On Outside Walls.

Windows   Don't leave windows open unnecessarily
How often have you gone out and fogotten to shut the window?
  Reduce draughts
Fit sealing strips to windows edges that don't fit properly.
  Fit double glazed windows
The expenses can be well worth it but it will have a long pay back time.
