-No Cost Tips   - Low Cost Tips   - Higher Cost or More Difficult Tips

Greenhouse   Switch off heating when not needed
Leaving heating running all winter is normally a waste of money, switch it off on warmer days.
  Set heating thermostats correctly
Set the temperature as low as possible consistent with the requirements of plants.
Fit a thermostat to heating systems without one
This will reduce the consumption considerably and the standby current will be zero for mechanical thermostats.
Lighting   Switch off lights in daylight
A hundred watt light bulb switched on for one hour every day costs over £1 a quarter to run. A low energy bulb switched on for one hour a day costs around 20p a quarter to run.
Replace all bulbs possible with low energy ones
There are now plenty of types available in low energy format.
Fit a time switch to outside lights controlled by a PIR
PIRs can use around 4 watts, a time switch will use around 1 watt. Combining several lights on one time switch saves even more electricity. Set the time switch to turn everything off in day light hours.
Replace light fittings where there are no suitable energy efficient bulbs available
Obvious targets for this are multiple spot lamp fittings typically found in kitchens.

Ponds   Turn off the fountain when no one can see it
This could save you quite a bit of power BUT if you have fish take advice first.
