| |
Often the lighting in rooms is brighter than needed |
| |

| |
There are now plenty of types available in low energy format. |
| |
Use light colours when redecorating rooms |
| |
Light coloured rooms require less power to light them. This works especially well in north facing rooms or rooms with small windows. |
| |
Split control of lights where there are more than one in a room |
| |
f a room has more than one light (in different positions) have them rewired to enable them to be controlled separately |
| |
Replace light fittings where there are no suitable energy efficient bulbs available |
| |
Obvious targets for this are multiple spot lamp fittings typically found in kitchens.
|
| Shaver Socket |
|
Don't use shaver sockets combined with a light |
| |
If combined with a light and it is switched don;t use it to charge shavers since you are paying for running the light as well - use a suitable adaptor into a normal socket. |
| |
Make sure that it is only on when the shaver is plugged in |
| |
This fact can be difficult to identify. These can be either sockets on their own or combined with a light. If it is on permanently then power is being wasted. |
| |
Replace the shaver socket with a switched one not combined with a light |
| |
There are now plenty of types available in low energy format. |
