Make there are no holes |

Especially around any cables and pipes coming into the room. Check both inside and outside walls plus floors and ceilings. This is the room most likely to lose heat through holes in the floor and ceiling. Keeping this room warm means clothes can be aired quicker and it helps minimise heat loss from the water cylinder.

Make sure the tank is properly lagged |

Unless it is a modern tank with integral insulation the tank needs a good quality jacket which has been fitted carefully to insulate the whole tank. It is also worth insulating the hot pipes feeding the tank. This will help keep the water hot for longer. This will lower the temperature of the airing cupboard which can be partially compensated fro by making sure there are no draughts. |
