Powering
Some Items Via An Inverter
This project is liable to take a long time to complete with the
initial stages likely to increase electricity consumption. Click
on the links below for more information.
Stage 1: A Simple Inverter/Battery
set up
This worked but it did give a few surprises and costs a little
bit more to run than not using it. The main issues which need addressing
are the reverse leakage of the battery charger and the low continuous
load on the system which limited the average efficiency to 38%.
Stage 2: A more refined and optimised set up
The prototype of an automatic switch and switch off system
is now operation and the efficiency looks around 75% with further
scope for improvement. Details will be published once it is complete.
Stage 3: Not sure yet - depends on viability including payback
time!
