Reviewing The Heat Use Survey Results

Once you have the initial survey results decide what to do by following the steps below.

Step 1:

Identify all the simple zero cost savings

 

Look for obvious things like turning down the heating a few degrees, shutting curtains at night, adjust thermostatic valves on radiators correctly

Step 2:

Identify all the areas for large potential savings with minimum investment

 

Insulating the loft and pipes is always a good investment, fit draught excluders where there are draughts ( don't forget letter boxes and keyholes. Reflective foil behind radiators on outside walls helps as does a properly balanced central heating system.

Step 3:

Decide what to do about the rest

 

Is it worth fitting a more modern boiler, having cavity wall insulation or double glazing installed?
