House 2 - Summary Of Oil Use Reduction

CO2 Savings Cost Savings Use Reduction
Since moving in at the end of October 2009 we have implemented most of the simple tips to save heat and re-insulated the loft plus set the central heating up properly and turned it down a few degrees. This was all completed by February 2010. This graph is relative to oil use between November 2009 and January 2010 so the savings will be nowhere as dramatic as house 1. Oil use will be higher in the winter mainly because of increased use of the central heating. The short term variations are caused the number of people in the house at any one time. The graph below shows how oil use has varied over the last year. The large dip in July 10is due to holidays and the large peaks in December 10 are due to the excessively cold winter where we experienced -19C on one occasion. Because of the large short term variations in use the graphs are difficult to analyse and so far the only real conclusions are the average consumption of oil has fallen slightly both running water heating only and central heating plus water heating.
Daily Heating Oil Consumption Graph
The graph below shows the percentage oil saved by comparing oil use between November 2009 and February 2010. Currently this is an artificial comparison due to moving from winter to summer and turning off the central heating leaving water heating only. By this time next year it should be possible to generate a much more accurate picture. The green area of the graph shows when water heating only is used, with read showing when the full heating system is in use.
