The Electrical Use Survey Results

Once you have the initial survey results
follow the process below. The notes relate to the initial survey.
If you look carefully the initial survey is incomplete in that
it misses out some obvious item such as cooker, washing machine,
etc. This was because I felt at the time the potential for savings
was low
e.g. the washing machine was already on an overnight timer to
use cheap rate electricity. In a similar way I concentrated
on standby power with some items because actual use would not
change much (how wrong I was became obvious during
the second survey). The 2006 and 2008 surveys are much more complete.
1. Identify and implement all the simple zero cost savings.
2. Identify al the areas for large potential savings with minimum
investment.
3. Decide what to do about the rest.
